A Tibetan dessert of aromatic basmati rice tossed in butter, sugar and dry fruits.Dresil is a sweet rice dish that Tibetans serve on special occasions throughout the year, like weddings and special Buddhist holidays, but that is also a hallmark of Losar. Central Tibetan people eat it first thing in the morning on the first day of the New Year.

Ingredients for Tibetan Dresil Recipe

  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 5 teaspoon Butter
  • 3 teaspoon Droma
  • 1 tablespoon Dry grapes
  • 1 tablespoon Almond
  • 1 tablespoon Cashew
  • 3 teaspoon Sugar

Directions: Tibetan Dresil Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Soak 3 tsp droma in water for 1 to 2 hours in hot water till soft. Wash well 2 or 3 times.

step 4

  • STEP 2.1 wash 1 cup basmati rice and steam cook in 1 ½ cup water.

step 5

  • STEP 3.2 transfer the cooked rice to a large mixing bowl. Add 3 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp dry grapes, 1 tbsp cashew nuts, 1 tbsp almonds and 3 tsp droma.

step 6

  • STEP 4.3 in a hot pan, melt 5 tsp butter. Pour this butter into the rice and mix together well with all the ingredients.
