  • 0.13 cup Urad Dal

  • STEP 1.Soak rice and urad dal separately for 4-6 hours.
  • STEP 2.Grind them separately to a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Mix the batter together and add salt. Let it ferment overnight.
  • STEP 4.Grease the thonnai cups with oil and pour the batter into them.
  • STEP 5.Steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes or until cooked.
  • STEP 6.Remove the idlis from the cups and serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
