Thengai milagai podi is a dry chutney powder made using roasted coconut, urad dal and red chilli. This is similar to our conventional chilli.   • 1/4 cup Chana dal
  • 1/4 cup Split urad dal
  • 2 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 1 cup Dry coconut
  • 10 Nos Dry red chillies
  • 30 gram Tamarind
  • 1 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • As required Salt

How to Make Thengai Milagai Podi Recipe

step 1

STEP 01

In a preheated pan add ¼ cup chana dal and roast on low to medium heat till golden brown. Keep aside.

Roast ¼ cup split white urad dal till golden brown and crispy.keep aside

STEP 01

Roast 2 tbsp sesame seeds till the start crackling. Keep aside

STEP 01

Roast 8 to 10 dry red chillies till crisp. Keep aside

STEP 01

Roast 1 cup dry coconut (kopra) till golden brown. Keep aside.

STEP 01

In a mixer grinder jar add the roasted dals, dry red chillies, coconut along with 30 gms tamarind and 1 tsp asafoetida.

STEP 01

Blend to make a coarse powder. Add salt to taste and blitz again. Serve with idli dosa.
