Thairu Vada Recipe

Delicious snack south indian curd vada with detailed photo and video recipe. a popular dessert snack recipe made with urad dal fritters soaked in a sweet and savoury yogurt sauce. it was generally made with left over medu vada’s from morning breakfast but has transformed itself into snack. it can be served as evening snack after any spicy and savoury chaat or snack to lower the spice temperature.

Ingredients for Thairu Vada Recipe

  • 10 No.s Bread slices
  • 1/2 cup Semolina
  • 1/2 cup Rice flour
  • 1.25 cup Curd
  • 4 tablespoon Water
  • 4 No.s Green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger chopped
  • 1 No.s Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1 Curry leaves string
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • As required Salt
  • As required Oil For Frying
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dal
  • 4 No.s Dry red chilli

Directions: Thairu Vada Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take a jar and grind 10slices of bread in batches.

  • STEP 2.Beat curd with a fork.

step 3

  • STEP 3.1 take a bowl and add curd. Add chopped curry leaves,1tsp chopped ginger, 3 chopped green chillies, chopped onion, 1/4tsp asafoetida, ½ cup rava, ¼ cup roaster rice flour and salt to taste. Mix well.

  • STEP 4.2 gradually add the breadcrumbs and mix well. Beat the mixture with a fork for 5 mins. Let it rest for 10 mins.

  • STEP 5.3 heat oil in a kadai.

  • STEP 6.4 take a bowl with water and dip your hands in water. Then take a small portion of the mixture. Using your thumb, make a hole in the middle of the dough. Carefully put it to the oil and fry it in medium flame.

  • STEP 7.5 turn it after 2 minutes. Fry it until both sides become golden brown in colour.

step 8

  • STEP 8.6 repeat step 4-5 for the rest of the mixture.

  • STEP 9.7 take a jar and whip 1kg curd in batches. Transfer it to a bowl. Add 1-2tbsp sugar and salt to taste. Mix well.

  • STEP 10.8 heat oil in a pan and roast cashew nuts in medium flame. Transfer it to a bowl when it turns golden brown. Similarly roast raisins.

  • STEP 11.9 heat some oil in a kadai, add 1tsp mustard seeds, 1tsp urad dal. Let the crackle. Add 4 dry red chillies, chopped curry leaves, 5 chopped green chillies, 1 ½ tsp chopped ginger. Saute in low flame. Turn off the flame. Add ¼ tsp asafoetida and ¼ tsp chilli powder. Transfer the prepared mix, directly to the curd.

step 12

  • STEP 12.10 immerse the vadas in the curd. Mix well. Let it rest for 30 mins. Garnish it with roasted cashew nuts and raisins.

step 13

  • STEP 13.11 thairu vada is ready to be served.
