Shallow fried fish patties flavoured with ginger garlic, lemon grass, coriander and soy sauce.A classic recipe, these red-curry-flavoured fish cakes can be found everywhere in Thailand. The preparation is really simple; the hardest part is getting the right fish. Go with something tender and you'll be fine, because the firmer the fish, the firmer the fish cakes,

Ingredients for Thai Fishcakes Recipe

  • 300 gram White fish fillet
  • 2 No.s Garlic Cloves
  • 5 gram Ginger
  • 1 No.s Lemon grass
  • 2 No.s Spring onion
  • 1 No.s Red chilli
  • 1 bunch Coriander
  • 1 tablespoon Groundnut oil
  • 3 teaspoon Fish sauce
  • 1 No.s Lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 No.s Egg
  • As required Salt

Directions: Thai Fishcakes Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 in a food processor, place 2 cloves finely chopped garlic ,5 gm finely chopped ginger, 1 finely chopped red chili, 1 finely chopped lemongrass, 2 finely chopped spring onion, 1 small bunch coriander , 1 tbsp oil and process till all ingredients are well chopped.

  • STEP 2.2 then add 300 gm finely diced white fish fillet, 3 tsp fish sauce ,zest of 2 lime, 1 tsp sugar, salt to taste, 1 whisked egg and blend to form a smooth paste.

  • STEP 3.3 then transfer to a mixing bowl and stir clockwise for 2 to 3 minutes to thicken and aerate the mixture.

  • STEP 4.4 apply oil the hans to prevent the paste from sticking, take 2 tbsp of the fish mixture and shape into patties.

    • STEP 5.5 in a frying pan heat 2 tbsp oil on medium heat, when hot place the patties in the oil and shallow fry for a few minutes on both sides till golden and cooked through. Adjust the heat to prevent burning.

    step 7

    • STEP 6.6 remove from the pan, serve hot with salad leaves ,lime wedges and sweet chili sauce.
