A bengali recipe of moong dal with bitter gourd and bottle gourd . Tetor Dal (Moong Dal with Bitter Gourd) is a traditional Bengali style lentil particularly prepared during summers. Tetor Dal also known ad Ucche/korola diye dal is a delicious and healthy dal with a mild bitter taste. Makes a nutritious and wholesome meal when served with hot steaming rice.

Ingredients for Teto'R Dal Recipe

  • 250 gram bottle gourd
  • 50 gram bitter gourd
  • 1 piece dried red chilies
  • 1 piece bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 40 gram grated coconut
  • 40 gram ginger paste
  • 8 gram Ghee
  • 13 gram Salt
  • 30 gram Sugar
  • 100 gram moong dal
  • As required Mustard oil

  • STEP 1.Wash and rinse the dal & Boil the dal with water in a pan till its soft

  • STEP 1.Boil the dal with water in a pan till its soft

  • STEP 1.Cut the vegetables and Steam the bottle gourd chunks

  • STEP 2.Steam the bottle gourd chunks

  • STEP 1.Heat a pan with mustard oil & Fry the korola and set aside

  • STEP 3.Fry the korola and set aside

step 7

  • STEP 4.Temper the oil with dried red chili,bay leaves and mustard seeds

  • STEP 5.Add fenugreek seeds and grated coconut , mix well

step 9

  • STEP 6.Fry until the coconut turns light brown

step 10

  • STEP 7.Add ginger paste and fried korola

step 11

  • STEP 8.Add the boiled moong dal and mix well

step 12

  • STEP 9.Add salt and sugar

  • STEP 10.Add boiled bottle gourd and mix well

step 14

  • STEP 11.Add ghee and mix well

step 15

  • STEP 12.Serve with rice
