  • 1/4 Lemon Sized Tamarind
  • 1/2 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 Dried Red Chilies
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 tablespoon Rasam Powder

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak tamarind in warm water and extract the juice.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chilies.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, rasam powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 4.Add tamarind juice and water. Bring to a boil and simmer for a few minutes.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or as a soup.

Cooking Tips

  • Adjust the amount of rasam powder according to your spice preference.
  • You can add cooked lentils or dal for a thicker consistency.
  • For a tangier flavor, add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) while tempering.
