A delicacy from kashmir that uses turnips which are cooked with whole spice and mashed nicely with a ladle. Tchat Goji is a Kashmiri delicacy prepared using turnips. Turnips are usually an underrated vegetable but this is an uncomplicated delicious recipe. Turnips are cooked with spices and finally mashed with the ladle. It can be prepared in a few minutes and tastes delicious with roti or rice.

Ingredients for Tchat Goji Recipe

  • 3 tablespoon Mustard Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger
  • 2 cup Turnip
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • As required Salt
  • As required Water
  • 1/2 cup Fenugreek Leaves

Directions: Tchat Goji Recipe

  • STEP 1.Wash turnips and cut them into skinny wafer-like slices.

  • STEP 2.In a non-stick pan, add oil and warmth it over medium flame.

  • STEP 3.Once the oil is hot, add turnips, hing, sugar, and salt.

  • STEP 4.Add dried red chilies and mix them well.

  • STEP 5.Cook the turnips with the lid lined on high flame for about 6-7 minutes till the turnips become soft.

  • STEP 6.Guarantee to stir them sometimes to avoid turnip sticking out to all-time low of the pan.

  • STEP 7.Once turnips become soft, add tikka masala and blend them equally.

  • STEP 8.Now, add water to the pan and cook till the water is absorbed utterly.

  • STEP 9.Gently mash turnips with the rear of your ladle. I haven’t mashed them as i like to get pleasure from turnips because it is when put next to mashed one.

  • STEP 10.The authentic dish necessitated mashing turnips.

  • STEP 11.Serve the kashmiri vogue turnip tchat goji either by stuffing within roti or with steamed rice and kachumber dish.
