It is used as an ingredient in many recipes. Made out of dry tamarind which is soaked in warm water, it is very easy to be prepared. Tamarind water is often used in South Indian delicadies, like sambar, vada, rice and dosa chutneys. The recipe is very simple and easy. It is made easily at home with minimum available contents as all you need is tamarind.

Ingredients for Tamarind Water Recipe

  • 1 Tamarind large lemon sized
  • 2.50 cup Hot water

Directions: Tamarind Water Recipe

Preparation Directions

  • STEP 1.Shred the tamarind in pieces into a bowl.
  • STEP 2.Pour in 1 cup of hot water over the tamarind and let it settle for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 3.After 10 minutes mash and squeeze the tamarind pieces to let out all the extracts into water.
  • STEP 4.Strain the water out using a sieve.
  • STEP 5.Continue the process of squeeze and mashing of the tamarind extracts with the remaining cup of water and filter it using a sieve.
