Ingredients for Sweet & Sour Pork Recipe

  • 1/2 pound Tenderloin pork cut into half inch cubes
  • 2 cup Coloured bell peppers cubed
  • 2 cup Pineapple cubed
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic chopped
  • As required Ingredients for sweet and sour sauce
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoon Plum sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • As required Ingredients for pork
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
  • As required Oil for deep frying

Directions: Sweet & Sour Pork Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 in a bowl add ½ lb of tenderloin pork cut into half inch cubes. Add 1 tbsp soy sauce, ¼ tsp salt ,¼ tsp baking soda. Mix well and let it marinate overnight.

  • STEP 2.1 in a bowl crack 2 eggs and whisk them.

  • STEP 3.2 in a second bowl add 1 cup of all purpose flour.

  • STEP 4.3 take one piece of pork at a time and dip it in the beaten egg and then dip it in the flour. Shake off the excess flour and place the meat in a bowl. When all the pieces have been coated, repeat the process a second time. First dip in egg and then coat with flour. Shake off the excess flour. deep fry immediately else the pieces will stick together.

  • STEP 5.4 in a deep vessel heat oil for deep frying to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

  • STEP 6.5 then put in the coated pork in the hot oil and gently push them about to separate them.

  • STEP 7.6 fry them for 2 to 3 minutes till the pork begins to change colour to light golden. Remove them from the oil in a sieve and shake off the excess oil. Let the pork rest for 5 minutes.

  • STEP 8.7 let the oil get hot again and then add the pork to double fry it for 30 seconds to get it golden and crispy. Double frying helps the outer layer to stay crispy longer, especially when coating with a sauce.

  • STEP 9.8 remove the pork from the oil and place it on a paper kitchen towel to remove any excess oil. Keep aside.

  • STEP 10.9 to make the sweet and sour sauce, in a small saucepan add ¼ cup ketchup, ¼ cup vinegar, ¼ cup sugar, ¼ cup water, 2 tbsp plum sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, ¾ tsp salt. Cook this on medium stirring continuously so that the sauce does not stick to the bottom.

  • STEP 11.10 once the sauce starts bubbling, turn the heat to low. And cook till it reaches a slightly sticky texture but is not thick.

  • STEP 12.11 heat the wok and add 1 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp chopped garlic and stir fry till the garlic is fragrant.then add 2 cups cubed red and yellow bell peppers and 2 cups cubed pineapple. Stir for about 3 minutes.

  • STEP 13.Then add the fried pork and toss together.

  • STEP 14.12 next pour in the sauce and mix well to ensure that the pork is well coated with sauce. Turn off the heat and transfer to a serving bowl.

  • STEP 15.13 sweet and sour pork is ready.
