There’s orange juice, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, jalapenos, and ginger. It’s sweet, tangy, salty, and spicy and goes perfectly with meaty, tender baby back ribs.

  • 700 gram Spare ribs
  • 1 No.s Spring onion
  • 10 gram Ginger
  • 1 No.s Apple
  • 1/2 No.s Green pepper
  • 1/2 No.s Red pepper
  • 1 No.s Star anise
  • 20 milliliter Cooking wine
  • 40 milliliter Light soy sauce
  • 60 milliliter Vinegar
  • 100 milliliter Apple juice
  • As required Salt

Directions: Sweet And Sour Apple Spare Ribs Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 fill 1 ltr water in a saucepan and add 700 gm spare ribs cut into 1 inch pieces. Boil for 30 minutes. Remove and drain the ribs.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 in a bowl add 20 ml cooking wine, 40 ml light soy sauce, 100 ml apple juice, 60 ml vinegar, 100 ml water and mix.

  • STEP 3.3 in a wok heat 1 tbsp oil on medium heat, add 1 roughly chopped spring onion,10 gm finely chopped ginger, 1 star anise and stir fry for 10 seconds.

  • STEP 4.4 add the ribs and stir fry for 2 minutes.

  • STEP 5.5 add 1 apple peeled and cut into 8 wedges, add prepared sauce mixture, salt to taste, stir together and bring to a boil.

    • STEP 6.6 then turn the heat to low, cover the wok and cook until the juice has reduced. Stir occasionally.

    step 8

    • STEP 7.7 add ½ green and ½ red peppers cut into bite size pieces and stir.

    step 9

    • STEP 8.8 add salt and fry for 1 minute.

    step 10

    • STEP 9.9 transfer to a dish and serve.
