Sundal Prasadam has a very special place as a Sacrament for Goddess Durga in India. Sundal recipes are prepared during Vinayaka Chaturthi or janmashtami puja or Navratri fasting in south India. They are very easy to prepare and make for a healthy brunch or snack. Since they are quick to prepare, they can also be served as a side dish.

Ingredients for Sundal Prasadam Recipe

  • 5 gram Coriander
  • 5 gram Ginger
  • 1 No.s Green chilies
  • 1 No.s Dry Red chilies
  • 5 gram Grated Coconut
  • As required Salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Hing
  • 1/2 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup White chickpeas
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lemon juice

Directions: Sundal Prasadam Recipe

  • STEP 1.Rinse and soak chickpeas for 4-5 hours or cook the chickpeas before and keep aside.
  • STEP 2.In a mixer grinder add 10 gm of coriander, 10gm of ginger,2 green chilies, 2 dry red chilies,10gm of grated coconut, salt and make a paste.
  • STEP 3.In a pan add 1tbsp of oil,1tsp of turmeric powder, 2tsp of mustard seeds, 1tsp of hing, curry leaves and 2 dry red chilies.
  • STEP 4.Mix everything well and add the grinded paste prepared earlier.
  • STEP 5.Add 1 cup cooked white chickpeas and lemon juice, combine everything together so that chickpeas are covered in the paste.
  • STEP 6.Serve the dish and sprinkle grated coconut to garnish.
