A bengali appetizer of stewed vegetables The Shukto Recipe is delightful recipe of mixed vegetables that is cooked in a mustard and poppy seed masala, panch phoran and milk. This dish has a very strong taste of mustard and can be an acquired taste. One of the core vegetables that are added to this is the bitter gourd, along with raw banana, potatoes, carrot and drumstick. You can of course add your own choice of vegetables, and experiment with this dish.

Ingredients for Sukhto Recipe

  • 160 gram Drumsticks
  • 120 gram Sweet Potatoes
  • 150 gram Unripe papaya
  • 100 gram Potato
  • 150 gram Unripe banana
  • 50 gram Bitter gourd
  • 100 gram Brinjal
  • 100 gram Flat beans
  • 35 gram Ginger paste
  • 25 gram Mustard seeds paste
  • 15 gram Grated coconut
  • As required Sun Dried lentils dumplings
  • 4 piece Bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Panch phoran
  • 1/4 teaspoon Maida
  • 100 gram Milk
  • As required Salt
  • As required Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Radhuni powdered
  • 100 gram Ghee
  • 2 tablespoon Mustard oil

Directions: Sukhto Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Peel and cut the vegetables

  • STEP 2.Wash the vegetables

step 3

  • STEP 3.Boil drumsticks,unripe papaya,flat beans,sweet potato and potatoes

step 4

  • STEP 4.Heat mustard oil in the cooking pan, and fry sun dried lentils dumplings, keep it aside

step 5

  • STEP 5.Fry the unripe banana,bitter gourd and brinjal one by one

step 6

  • STEP 6.Add bay leaves in the oil,panch phoran and ginger paste, fry them

step 7

  • STEP 7.Add the mustard seeds paste,and fry for 1mins

step 8

  • STEP 8.Add the boiled vegetables one by one, then the fried vegetables

step 9

  • STEP 9.Add the fried lentils dumplings

step 10

  • STEP 10.Add the grated coconuts and the water from the boiled vegetables

step 11

  • STEP 11.Add the milk with mixing the flour in it

step 12

  • STEP 12.Add the radhuni powder and cover cook for 5mins

step 13

  • STEP 13.Serve with rice
