How to Make Sukhiyan Recipe

Preparation Directions

STEP 01

In a pressure cooker, boil 1 cup of green gram with 2 cups of water till 5-6 whistles In a bowl add ¾ cup of maida, 2 tsp rice powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and a pinch of salt.

Cooking Directions

STEP 01

In a bowl add ¾ cup of maida, 2 tbsp rice powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and a pinch of salt.

STEP 02

Pour in ½ cup of water to form a loose batter without any lumps.

STEP 03

In a pan transfer the green grams from the pressure cooker. Add to it, 1 cup of grated coconut and ¾ cup of sugar. Heat the mixture in a medium flame until the sugar has melted down.

STEP 04

Keep it aside to cool down.

STEP 05

Once settled and cool, roll the mixture to medium size balls.

STEP 06

Preheat a deep fry pan with cooking oil.

STEP 07

Dip the balls into the batter and fry them in the pan. Repeat the process for the remaining balls.

Special Comments

STEP 01

Instead of sugar, jaggery syrup can be used.

STEP 02

If using soaked green gram, boil in the pressure cooker for 2-3 whistles instead.
