Directions: Suji Dhokla/semolina Dhokla In Microwave Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, mix semolina, yogurt, ginger-green chili paste, salt, and water to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add lemon juice and eno fruit salt to the batter and mix well. The batter will become frothy.
  • STEP 3.Grease a microwave-safe dish and pour the batter into it. Tap the dish to remove any air bubbles.
  • STEP 4.Microwave the dish on high power for 3-4 minutes or until the dhokla is cooked and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • STEP 5.Remove the dish from the microwave and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Cut the dhokla into pieces and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  • STEP 7.For the tempering, heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Once they splutter, pour the tempering over the dhokla pieces.
  • STEP 8.Serve the suji dhokla warm with green chutney or tamarind chutney.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is smooth and lump-free for a perfect texture.
  • Do not overcook the dhokla, as it may become dry. Check the doneness with a toothpick.
  • You can adjust the spiciness by adding more or less ginger-green chili paste.
  • For a variation, you can add grated carrots or chopped spinach to the batter for added nutrition and color.

Storage and Serving

  • Suji dhokla is best served fresh and warm.
  • If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, steam the dhokla in a steamer or microwave for a few seconds.
  • Serve the reheated dhokla with a fresh batch of chutney for a delightful snack.
