Directions: Stuffed Moong Dal Rolls Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.To make the moong dal filling, soak the moong dal in water for 2-3 hours. Drain the water and grind the dal into a coarse paste.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once the seeds crackle, add chopped onions and saut茅 until golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and spices like turmeric, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Cook for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add the ground moong dal paste and cook until the mixture thickens and the raw smell of dal disappears. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  • STEP 5.To make the dough, mix wheat flour, salt, and oil in a bowl. Add water gradually and knead into a soft dough. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the moong dal filling in the center and fold the edges to seal the filling.
  • STEP 7.Heat a tawa or griddle and cook the stuffed rolls on both sides until golden brown, using a little oil.
  • STEP 8.Serve the stuffed moong dal rolls hot with chutney or ketchup.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to soak the moong dal for a few hours to soften it before grinding.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your taste by adding more or less green chilies and red chili powder.
  • If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more flour while kneading.
  • To make the rolls healthier, you can also bake them in the oven instead of frying.

Storage and Serving

  • Stuffed moong dal rolls are best served hot and fresh.
  • If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, you can either microwave them for a few seconds or heat them on a tawa or griddle until warm.
  • Serve the reheated rolls with chutney or ketchup.
