  • 1/4 cup Urad Dal
  • 0.13 cup Moong Dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Green Chili Paste
  • As required Salt To Taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak urad dal and moong dal in water for 4-5 hours, then grind into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add salt, ginger paste, and green chili paste to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 3.Grease a steamer plate and pour spoonfuls of the batter onto it. Steam for 10-15 minutes until cooked.
  • STEP 4.Remove the vadas from the steamer and let them cool.
  • STEP 5.In a bowl, whisk yogurt with salt and sugar to make the dahi sauce.
  • STEP 6.Dip the steamed vadas into the dahi sauce and let them soak for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with tamarind chutney, green chutney, roasted cumin powder, and chopped coriander leaves.
  • STEP 8.Serve chilled as a snack or appetizer.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is smooth and of pouring consistency.
  • You can add a pinch of baking soda to the batter for extra softness.
  • Adjust the amount of green chili paste according to your spice preference.
  • You can also add chopped onions and grated carrots as toppings for added crunch and flavor.
