Shrikhand is a sort of sweet yoghurt dish, flavoured with cardamom powder and saffron, this dish is a hit at weddings and at the festival of Dussehra. Shrikhand is a delicious and simple dessert recipe made with thick yogurt flavored with sugar, saffron and cardamom. Whether you choose to use homemade hung curd or take a shortcut by using store bought Greek yogurt, this easy dessert is the perfect after dinner sweet.

Ingredients for Sreekhand Recipe

  • 500 gram Curd
  • 1/4 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Milk
  • 2 Green cardamom
  • 4 Almonds
  • 6-7 Pistachios
  • 8-10 Saffron strands

Directions: Sreekhand Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take milk in a glass along with saffron strands and keep them aside for 5 to 6 minutes.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Thinly slice the almonds and pistachios.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Crush the green cardamom seeds into fine powder using a mortar pestle.

step 4

  • STEP 4.Put the curd on a vessel covered with muslin cloth then lift the cloth from the sides and tie it with a knot.

step 5

  • STEP 5.Now hang the cloth for 2 hours so that the excess water drains out.

step 6

  • STEP 6.Transfer the hung curd in a bowl and add powdered sugar, crushed green cardamom, saffron milk and half amount of almonds and pistachios to the curd and mix everything really well.

step 7

  • STEP 7.Garnish this tempting shrikhand with some almonds and pistachios and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
