Ingredients for Sprout idli Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Rice
  • 1/4 cup Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup Mixed Sprouts
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • as needed Oil For Greasing

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.To make sprout idli, first, soak rice and lentils separately for 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and grind the rice and lentils separately to a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Mix the rice and lentil batter together and add salt. Allow it to ferment overnight.
  • STEP 4.Next day, add sprouts to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 5.Grease the idli moulds with oil and pour the batter into each mould.
  • STEP 6.Steam the idlis for about 10-12 minutes or until cooked through.
  • STEP 7.Once done, remove the idlis from the moulds and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • You can use a mix of different lentils like urad dal, moong dal, and chana dal for a more nutritious idli.
  • Make sure to ferment the batter overnight to get soft and fluffy idlis.
  • You can add grated carrots, chopped spinach, or other vegetables to the batter for added nutrition and flavor.

Storage and Serving

  • Sprout idlis are best served hot and fresh.
  • If you have any leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
