#Tomato This South Indian style chutney is perfect to eat with dosas, idlis , bondas and uttappams. Onions and tomatoes dry roasted with urad dal, spices and red chillies is ground to a coarse paste. The secret of this chutney is the fact that it is spiked with some sambhar powder. Quick delicious and multipurpose – it is a welcome change from a regular coconut chutney.

Ingredients for SPICY TOMATO CHUTNEY Recipe

  • 3/4 Pieces Tomato chopped
  • 1/2 Pieces Onion
  • 1/4 gram Split black gram skinless
  • 1/2-3/4 Pieces Dried red chillies
  • 1/4 inch Ginger chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 0.06 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 0.13 teaspoon Sambhar powder

Directions: Spicy Tomato Chutney Recipe

  • STEP 1.Heat a pan, add urad dal and roast till lightly browned. Add red chillies and onions and continue to roast. Add tomatoes, ginger, salt and red chilli powder and mix.
  • STEP 2.Add sambhar powder and mix. Take it off the heat and set aside to cool. Grind to a fine paste. Serve with dosa or idli or uttappam.
