Easy recipe for a side dish with soya chunks. Soya chunks are made from defatted soy flour, a by-product of extracting soybean oil. It has a protein content which is equal to that of meat. It is quick and also easy to cook. You can prepare many dishes using soya chunks such as soya chunks curry, kurma and even add them to your pulaos, soups, stir fries, etc.

Ingredients for Soya Chunk Thoran Recipe

  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup Soybean chunks
  • 1 No.s Chopped Onion
  • 2 No.s Chopped green chillies
  • 5 Chopped garlic pods
  • 5 No.s Chopped beans
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds

step 1

  • STEP 1.Boil water in a saucepan with ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp turmeric powder.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Add 1 cup of soybean chunks and cook till the soya chunks are swelled up.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Transfer the soya chunks to a bowl of warm water to wash off.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Pulse the soya chunks in a grater.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Saute the chopped vegetables in a pan.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Prepare coconut mix in a grinder with ½ cup of grated coconut, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and ¼ tsp cumin seeds.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Transfer the coconut mix to the sauteed vegetables and mix well.

step 8

  • STEP 1.Also add in the pulsed soya chunks and cook in a medium flame for 2-3 minutes.

step 9

  • STEP 1.Turn off the flame and the soya chunks side dish is ready.
