  • 125 gram Fish
  • 1/4 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 Dried Red Chilies
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • as needed Tamarind Pulp
  • as required Mustard Paste
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Marinate the fish with turmeric powder and salt.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish until golden brown. Set aside.
  • STEP 3.In the same pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dried red chilies.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and cook until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add mustard paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  • STEP 6.Add tamarind pulp and water, cover and cook until the fish is cooked through.
  • STEP 7.Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • You can use any firm fish like Rohu or Katla.
  • You can add a pinch of sugar to balance the flavors.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
