  • 1/2 cup Instant oats
  • 1 cup Roasted Rava/ Semolina/ Sooji
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • As required Salt
  • 1 No.s E fruit salt tsp
  • As required Ingredients for Tempering
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustards seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 2 No.s Green chillies
  • As required Equipment
  • As required Steamer

Directions: Sooji Oats Dhokla Recipe

  • STEP 1.Into a large mixing bowl place ½ cup instant oats,1 cup roasted rava, ½ cup curd, salt to taste.
  • STEP 2.Add a little water at a time and stir to combine and make a smooth, thick batter.
  • STEP 3.Allow the batter to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. The rested batter will become thick. If it is too thick and dry and a little more water and mix it.
  • STEP 4.Next, add 1 tsp enos fruit salt to make the dhoklas fluffy.
  • STEP 5.Grease a dhokla pan with oil and pour in the batter. Spread out the batter evenly and in a thin layer as it will fluff up when it cooks.
  • STEP 6.Sprinkle a little red chilli powder over the dhokla batter.
  • STEP 7.Put the dhokla pan in a steamer with water, cover it and steam on high for about 10 minutes, till a knife inserted into the dhokla comes out clean.
  • STEP 8.To make the tempering, preheat a pan and add 1 tbsp oil and ½ tsp mustard seeds.allow the mustards seeds to crackle. Then add 1 tsp sesame seeds which give a nutty flavour to the chokla. Add ¼ tsp asafoetida, 2 slit green chillies and 1 sprig of torn curry leaves and mix the tempering well. Turn off the heat.
