Ingredients for Sooji Balls Recipe

  • 1/2 cup suji/semolina, coarse
  • 3 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 No.s chilli, finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 1.25 cup Water
  • 0.38 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.13 cup coconut, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1/4 teaspoon chana dal
  • 2.50 No.s cashew nuts
  • A Few Curry.leaves
  • 1/2 No.s dried red chilli
  • 0.13 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.13 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice

Directions: Sooji Balls Recipe

  • STEP 1.Roast semolina on low flame for 2-3 minutes and keep aside.
  • STEP 2.In a pot, heat 3 tsp oil and add 1 chilli, 1 inch ginger, saute.
  • STEP 3.Pour in 2½ cup water, add ½ tsp salt and ¼ cup coconut.
  • STEP 4.Mix everything well, get the water to boil.
  • STEP 5.Keeping the flame on low, start adding roasted semolina slowly, stir continuously.
  • STEP 6.Cover and cook for 3 minutes, the mix has started to absorb water.
  • STEP 7.Then knead the dough for 5 minutes and prepare small balls.
  • STEP 8.Steam the semolina balls for 10 minutes and keep aside.
  • STEP 9.In a different pot heat 3 tsp oil and add 1 tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp of cumin, ½ tsp chana dal, ½ tsp of urad dal, cashew nuts and curry leaves, give the tempering a mix.
  • STEP 10.Then add ¼ tsp turmeric, ¼ tsp chilli powder and ¼ tsp salt.
  • STEP 11.Add prepared semolina balls and mix gently.
  • STEP 12.Before turning off the stove add 2 tbsp coriander and 2 tsp lemon juice.
  • STEP 13.Mix everything gently and serve on a plate and enjoy.
