How to Make Slow Cooker Turkey Tacos

  • STEP 1.In a pan over medium heat, add the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until they’re fragrant and soft. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. This step brings out the flavor, so don't skip it! Once browned, transfer the turkey mixture to your slow cooker.
  • STEP 1.Now, toss in the chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker. Pour in the chicken broth and the can of diced tomatoes with their juice. Stir everything together until well mixed.
  • STEP 2.Set your slow cooker to low and cook for about 4 hours. It doesn’t get any easier than this, right? If you’re in a rush, you can always cook on high for about 2 hours, but low and slow is where the flavor really deepens.
  • STEP 3.Once the turkey mixture is cooked and flavors have melded together, it’s taco time! Grab your tortillas and load them up with the turkey mixture. Add your favorite toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, a dollop of sour cream, or some shredded cheese.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use other meats for this recipe?

Absolutely! You can swap out the turkey for ground chicken or even lean beef if you prefer. Just keep in mind that turkey tends to have less fat, so it’s a healthier option if you’re watching your calorie intake.

How can I make these tacos even more low-carb?

If you're aiming for a keto-friendly meal, swap the tortillas for lettuce wraps. They’re the perfect vessel for your taco fillings, and you won’t miss the carbs!
