A healthy sindhi mixed dal originating from the northern region of the Indian sub continent this recipe is prepared with 3 kinds of dal and tempered with garlic, red chilli alomg with some aromatic and flavourful spices wich provides it its unique taste. Serve this dal for lunch or dinner along with some teamed rice or chapatis.

Ingredients for Sindhi Tidali Dal Recipe

  • As required Ingredients for mixed dal
  • 1/2 cup Chana dal
  • 1/4 cup Split green moong dal
  • 1/4 cup Urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 No.s Green chilli
  • 2 No.s Tomatoes
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • As required Salt
  • As required Ingredients for Tempering
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder

Directions: Sindhi Tidali Dal Recipe

  • STEP 1.Soak ½ cup chana dal, ¼ cup split green moong dal, ¼ cup urad dal for 1 hour.
  • STEP 2.Into a pressure cooker add ,1/2 cup soaked chana dal, ¼ cup split green moong dal,¼ cup urad dal, salt to taste, ½ tsp turmeric, 1 green chilli finely chopped, 2 tomatoes finely chopped 1 inch ginger finely chopped.
  • STEP 3.Then add 2 ½ cups of water and pressure cook for 6 to 8 whistles ( about 30 minutes. Allow pressure to release naturally.
  • STEP 4.Add 1 cup water and mix dal. It should be thick flowing consistency. Give it a brisk boil. Turn off the heat.
  • STEP 5.For tadka, add 1 tbsp ghee into a hot tadka pan. Add 1 tsp cumin seeds and a pinch of asafoetida. Allow the seeds to splutter, then add 6 cloves of chopped garlic. Stir for a few seconds. Add 1 tsp red chilli powder.
  • STEP 6.Pour the prepared tadka over the dal and serve hot with steamed rice or chapatis.
