A delicious spicy dish prepared mainly from prawns alongwith spice,fermented soybean paste and eggs. Chilli crab is a Singaporean seafood dish. Mud crabs are commonly used and are stir-fried in a semi-thick, sweet and savoury tomato-and-chilli-based sauce. Fresh, live mud crab is the traditional crab used, prized for its sweet and meaty flesh. But any big crabs can be used; The chilli paste Somewhat like a Thai curry, the base of the sauce is made with fresh chillies and aromatics, all blitzed up to release the fresh flavour.

Ingredients for Sinapore Style Chilli Crab Recipe

  • 1 kilogram crab
  • 6 Nos fresh chilli peppers
  • 1 cm ginger
  • 2 Nos shallots
  • 8 Nos garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon fermented soybean paste
  • 300 gram Water
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 4 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon corn flour
  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • 2 Nos eggs

Directions: Sinapore Style Chilli Crab Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Wash and clean the crab, scrub it and cut it into quarters. Grind chillies, ginger, garlic and shallots. Prepare a mixture of cornstarch and water. Add oil in a pan and heat it. Then add ground ingredients and saute it. Add the crab pieces in the pan.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Now add ferment bean paste and saute it for 3 mins. Then add water and increase the flame and let it boil. Add sugar, ketchup, salt as per taste and once it starts boiling cover it. Now cook it at medium flame for 10 mins. Add cornstarch mixture and beaten eggs. Garnish with scallions.
