A snack made in himachal style widely popular as Siddu .Siddu is the most famous Pahadi dish among the natives of Himachal . Siddu is a regularly consumed dish which is being followed from ages and ages . Healthy traditional dish . There are numerous variations in preparing the filling for Siddu . Siddu is normally a steamed wheat which includes a filling within. People do use peas filling , potato filling , urad dal filling , rajma filling , walnut peanut filling , etc

Ingredients for Siddu Recipe

  • 2 cup Wheat flour 250 grams
  • 1 teaspoon Active Dry Yeast
  • 2-3 tablespoon Ghee
  • As required For Stuffing
  • 1/2 cup Urad dal
  • 2-3 tablespoon Green Coriander
  • 1/2 pinch Asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 inch Ginger baton
  • 2-3 Green Chilli
  • 1 Salt slightly more than ts

Directions: Siddu Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the urad dal

step 2

  • STEP 2.Take 2 cups of flour in a bowl, add 2tsp ghee,1tsp dry active yeast,½ tsp salt,mix well, the knit the flour with lukewarm water and leave it for 1.5 hrs

step 3

  • STEP 3.Paste the urad dal

  • STEP 4.To make the filling , take the urad dal in a bowl,

  • STEP 5.Add red chili powder,salt,tsp ginger paste,2 finely chopped green chilies,¼ tsp turmeric powder,½ pinch asafoetida,1tsp coriander powder and little amount of coriander leaves,mix it well.

  • STEP 6.Take the knitted flour,make some rolls with hands and make round roti with a roller , make it a little bit thick

step 7

  • STEP 7.Add the paste and keep it the middle of the roti and roll it like a half moon and seal the edge

step 8

  • STEP 8.Take the steaming bowl, add water in the bowl, steam the siddu

step 9

  • STEP 9.Apply some ghee as a thin coating over them

step 10

  • STEP 10.Serve with hari chutney
