A spicy tossed chicken salad flavoured with garlic, spring onions, coriander, soy sauce and chilli oil. Bang Bang Chicken (named after the sound that a pounding mallet makes when tenderizing the tough chicken breasts of yesteryear) or Mysterious Flavor Chicken, this classic cold Sichuan chicken salad dressed with Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, sesame, and chili oil, can be updated using a few modern techniques. Cooking the chicken breasts directly in a bag with aromatics guarantees ultra-moist and flavor-packed chicken without the need for any banging at all.

Ingredients for Sichuan Spicy Chicken Salad Recipe

  • 400 gram Chicken Breast
  • 2 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 6-8 Garlic finely chopped cloves
  • 2 teaspoon Oil
  • 2 Spring onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon Light soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoon Castor sugar
  • 50 gram Coriander finely chopped
  • As required Salt

Directions: Sichuan Spicy Chicken Salad Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 fill a medium sized pan with water and add 400 gm chicken breast to it.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 boil the chicken breast for 45 minutes until it is cooked.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 remove from the water and set aside to cool.

step 4

  • STEP 4.4 heat oil in a wok till it is smoking, then remove the wok from the heat and let it cool for 1 minute.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 add 2 tsp chilli powder to the oil and stir well to mix it into the oil. Ensure that the oil is not too hot in order to prevent the chilli powder from burning.

  • STEP 6.6 turn off the heat.

  • STEP 7.7 in a bowl shred the chicken into small pieces once it has cooled and add 6 to 8 finely chopped cloves of garlic, 2 thinly sliced spring onions, 50 gm finely chopped coriander 2 tsp castor sugar and salt to taste.

  • STEP 8.8 to this add 2 tbsp light soy sauce and the prepared chilli oil. Mix all the ingredients together till well combined.

  • STEP 9.9 then place on a dish and serve
