A traditional chinese Famous shrimp dumplings recipe. These steamed dumplings are a perfect appetizer or a side dish with other dim sum classics such as buns, other dumplings filled with pork, or lotus leaf wraps. You'll need a bamboo steamer, and a heat resistant plate that fits inside it, for the dumplings, but you can find those in some supermarkets, major cities that have Chinatown neighborhoods, or online. Serve hot with hot chili oil or soy sauce for dipping.

Ingredients for Shrimp Dumplings Recipe

  • 3/4 cup wheat starch
  • 2 tablespoon tapioca starch
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • 4.50 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • As required For the Filling
  • 170 gram Shrimp
  • 3 tablespoon bamboo shoots
  • 1.50 teaspoon green onion
  • 3/4 teaspoon Chinese rice wine
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.12 teaspoon White Pepper
  • 1 No.s Egg white
  • 2 tablespoon Oil

Directions: Shrimp Dumplings Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a bowl mix starch, tapioca starch and salt.

  • STEP 1.Gently mix in a bowl and make a dough using oil

step 3

  • STEP 2.Use boiling water if the dough is dry and do not overcook. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.

  • STEP 3.For the filling - place the shrimp in a medium bowl and add the bamboo shoots, green onion, rice wine, sesame oil, salt, pepper, egg white, and cornstarch. Mix well.

  • STEP 4.Cover and refrigerate for one hour.

  • STEP 1. Coat a paper towel with vegetable oil and use it to oil your cutting board or work surface and the broad side of a cutting knife or cleaver.

  • STEP 1. Keep the dough covered to prevent it drying out while preparing the dumplings.

  • STEP 1.Break off 1 teaspoon of the dough and roll into a ball. Flatten the ball of dough by pressing it in the palm of your hand.

  • STEP 1. Lay the dough on the oiled work surface and press down on it with the oiled side of the knife or cleaver to form a circle that is 2 1/2 to 3 inches wide.

  • STEP 1.Use a spoon to fill the circles and do not touch the edges.

  • STEP 1. Prepare a steamer and an oiled plate that will fit inside the steamer. Place a few har gow on the oiled plate and steam the dumplings in batches, until the wrapper is translucent and the shrimp appear slightly orange, around 13 to 15 minutes.

  • STEP 1.Serve with hot chilli and soy sauce
