Ingredients for Shalgam/Turnip Bharta Recipe

  • 250-300 gram Turnip
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/2 tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • 1.50 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 4-5 No.s Green Onion
  • 4 No.s Tomatoes
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 5-10 gram Peas
  • 1/2 tablespoon Dry mango powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Garam Masala
  • As required Some coriander leaves

Directions: Shalgam/turnip Bharta Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Cut the top part of the turnip and peel it.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Wash it and cut it into pieces

step 3

  • STEP 3.1.heat the ghee into the pressure cooker.

step 4

  • STEP 4.2.turn the gas on low flame when the ghee melts

step 5

  • STEP 5.3.now add turmeric powder,chilli powder and coriander powder.

step 6

  • STEP 6.4.now add shalgam,then add salt as per taste.

step 7

  • STEP 7.5.mix well and add water.

step 8

  • STEP 8.6.now cover it and cook it until the whistle blows twice.

step 9

  • STEP 9.7.mash the salgam a little.

step 10

  • STEP 10.8.now heat oil in a pan and add green onion and saute.

step 11

  • STEP 11.9.add tomatoes and green chillies,add salt as per taste.

step 12

  • STEP 12.10.now add peas and cover it for 2-3 mins.

step 13

  • STEP 13.11.now add spices ¼ tbsp turmeric powder,½ tbsp red chilli powder,1 tbsp coriander powder,and saute it.

  • STEP 14.12.then add mashed shalgam/turnip.

step 15

  • STEP 15.13.mix well,until the water is absorbed completely.

step 16

  • STEP 16.14.add dry mango powder,garam masala,½ tsp sugar.

step 17

  • STEP 17.15.sprinkle coriander leaves and serve.
