A traditional Punjabi sweet which is served on various auspicious occasions and wedding functions. The main ingredients of this recipe are wheat flour, ghee and sugar syrup.
STEP 1.In a bowl take some wheat flour, ghee and gradually add water to it and knead a semi firm dough.
STEP 2.Divide the dough into equal parts and roll it flat into a thick parantha.
STEP 3.With help of a knife cut these paranthas into a diamond shape by slicing them in a criss-cross pattern.
STEP 4.Heat some oil in a pan and fry your shakarpare on a medium flame till they turn crisp and light brown.
STEP 5.Take them out and dry all the excess oil.
STEP 6.Take sugar and half a cup of water in a pan and cook it on medium flame by stirring continuously till the sugar dissolves.
STEP 7.Once the syrup starts bubbling add saffron strands to get a little orange tint
STEP 8.Turn off the flame and coat your shakarpare with sugar syrup.
STEP 9.Let the shakarpare cool completely so that the sugar syrup would get crystallized.
