Ingredients for Shakarpara Recipe

  • 1/2 cup All purpose flour
  • 1 dash powdered green cardamom
  • 1.50 cup refined oil
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 pinch powdered saffron
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ghee

Directions: Shakarpara Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take a wide bowl and add ghee and maida with little water.

  • STEP 1.Combine these ingredients using your hands and knead into a thick dough. Take small portions of the dough and make large divisions out of it.

  • STEP 1.These are traditionally made in a cylindrical shape; however, you can shape them into squares or triangles as well.

  • STEP 1.Meanwhile, take a pan and heat it over medium flame. Then, add the remaining oil for deep frying and once the oil is sufficiently hot, carefully add the shakarpara balls in the pan.

  • STEP 1.Deep fry them till they turn slightly golden in color. Keep the flame low. Once done, drain the excess oil using an absorbent paper and transfer to a plate.

  • STEP 1.Take another pan and add the water and the sugar in it. Heat the pan over medium flame.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Then add saffron powder and simmer the mixture till it gets thick and sticky in texture.

step 8

  • STEP 1.Then remove from flame and keep aside.
