Ingredients for Sev Tamteta Nu Shaak/Sev Tamatar Recipe

  • 6 Tomatoes halves
  • 2 tablespoon Water for pressure cooking
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig Curry leaf torn
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon Jaggery
  • As required Salt
  • 1 cup Sev

Directions: Sev Tamteta Nu Shaak/sev Tamatar Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 in a pressure add 6 halved tomatoes, 2 tbsp water and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Allow pressure to release naturally.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 transfer the cooked tomatoes to a wide plate or bowl and allow to cool. Peel off the skin which will have come loose during cooking. Roughly chop the tomatoes.

  • STEP 3.3 in areheated pan add 1tbsp ghee and allow it to melt. Add ½ tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp mustard seeds, 1 sprig curry leaf torn and stir, 2 slit green chillies, 1 inch finely chopped ginger.stir and allow the seeds to crackle and the ingredients to roast.

  • STEP 4.4 next add the chopped tomatoes along with its juices, add ½ tsp turmeric (haldi) powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tbsp jaggery and salt to taste. Mix well.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 bring it to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 add ½ cup sev and stir it in. Add ¼ cup water and simmer for 2 minutes for the flavours to combine. Sev does not need to cook. Lastly add chopped coriander

step 7

  • STEP 7.7 sev tameta nu shaak is ready. Serve hot topped with the remaining ½ cup sev..
