Sesame Chilli Potatoes Recipe

A healthy preparation of honey, chilli, sesame roasted baby potatoes. The key to making super crispy honey chilli potatoes is to batter fry the potato fingers twice. Deep frying them only once results in potatoes that don't hold their shape and get soggy after a few minutes. So the potatoes are first coated in a dry mixture, deep fried till they are almost cooked and then cooled for a bit.

Ingredients for Sesame Chilli Potatoes Recipe

  • 300 gram Baby Potatoes
  • 2 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon Red Chilli sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon Soya Sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 tablespoon Sesame Seeds
  • 4 Garlic finely chopped cloves
  • 2 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Spring Onion chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Spring onion greens for tossing

Directions: Sesame Chilli Potatoes Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook 300 gms baby potatoes with the skins on. When cooled, peel the potatoes and keep aside.

step 2

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, add 2 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp red chilli sauce, 2 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato ketchup. Whisk to combine well. Keep aside.

  • STEP 1.In a hot pan and 2 tbsp oil, when oil is hot add 2 tbsp sesame seeds and saute for a few seconds. Do not brown the sesame seeds. Add 4 gloves of garlic finely chopped, 2 inches of ginger finely chopped, 2 chopped green chillies. Stir for a few seconds.

  • STEP 1.Add ½ cup chopped spring onion bulbs and greens. Saute for afew seconds till aroma begins to escape.

  • STEP 1.Now add the 300 grams boiled and peeled whole baby potatoes. Add 1/2 tsp salt. Roast in high heat for 4 to 5 minutes till potatoes get brown spots.

  • STEP 1.Add the sauce mixture. Toss on high heat until potatoes are well coated with the sauce. Stir for 4 to 5 minutes till sauce thickens.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Lastly add the chopped spring onion greens for colour and flavour. Turn off the heat. Honey sesame potatoes are ready.
