A easy and quick way to make Sambar Rice. It can be some times when we are busy with something or it can simply be that we want to finish cooking quickly. Here is an recipe of a wholesome meal, I say it is wholesome because it has vegetables, pulses and rice. Enjoy Sambar Rice with a glass of buttermilk/ Neer mor.

Ingredients for Satvik Sambar Rice / One Pot Sambar Rice Recipe

  • 1/2 cups Rice —–
  • 0.13 cup Tuar dal —
  • As required Tamarind —- Lemon size
  • 1/2 tsp Sambar pwd—-
  • 0.06 tsp Turmeric pwd —
  • 0.06 tsp Asafoetida —-
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds----
  • 1/2 tsp Salt —–
  • 1/2 tsp Sesame oil —-
  • As required Vegetables -Pumpkin
  • As required ladies finger
  • 0-1/2 nos Brinjalcups
  • 1.50 cups Water ---

Directions: Satvik Sambar Rice / One Pot Sambar Rice Recipe

  • STEP 1.Cut all vegetables. Soak the tamarind in water. Heat a cooker,add one spoon of oil and add the vegetables, saute. Next add the turmeric pwd, Sambar pwdv, asafoetida and salt. Next add the rinsed dal and Rice, give a stir. Add water, close the cooker and cook for 4-5 whistles.
  • STEP 2.Open the cooker once the pressure comes down. Now add the tamarind water, mix everything together and cook in low heat for 4-5 minutes, put off the heat.
  • STEP 3.Take a small pan, heat one spoon oil add mustard seeds, when they crackle add the curry leaves, add this to the prepared sambar rice. Enjoy Sambar Rice with papadam or chips.
