  • 1/4 tsp ▢1 tsp
  • 1/4 cup ▢1 cup
  • 1/4 cup ▢¾ cup
  • 1/4 cup ▢1 cup
  • 1/2 tbsp ▢2 tbsp

Directions: Sambar Recipe

  • STEP 1.[5/20, 10:39 AM] Shipra Mehrotra: firstly, in a large kadai heat, 2 tsp oil and splutter tempering.
  • STEP 2.add 4 shallots, 2 chilli and saute for a minute till it changes colour.
  • STEP 3.further, add 1 tomato and continue to cook.
  • STEP 4.[5/20, 10:40 AM] Shipra Mehrotra: now add mixed vegetables and saute for 2 minutes.
  • STEP 5.further, add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp jaggery, 1 tsp salt and 1 cup water.
  • STEP 6.mix well, cover and boil for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 7.now add ¾ cup tamarind extract and mix well.
  • STEP 8.cover and boil for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 9.additionally, add 1 cup toor dal, water and mix well
  • STEP 10.[5/20, 10:40 AM] Shipra Mehrotra: cover and boil for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 11.additionally, add 1 cup toor dal, water and mix well.
  • STEP 12.add in 4 tsp of prepared sambar powder.
  • STEP 13.boil for a minute, until the flavours are well absorbed.
  • STEP 14.[5/20, 10:41 AM] Shipra Mehrotra: add in 2 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well.
  • STEP 15.finally, enjoy idli sambar with hot steamed idli.
