An instant spicy side dish made from chilli peppers,dried anchovies,shallots,onion & garlic . Sambal is the generic name for a spicy condiment made of chillies plus a combination of aromatics such as onions, garlic and ginger beside others. It is an accompaniment for 'Nasi Lemak' a popular dish in Malaysia and Singapore.

Ingredients for Sambal Nasi Lemak Recipe

  • 3 Nos garlic cloves
  • 3 Nos fresh chilli peppers
  • 15 Nos dried chilli peppers
  • 20 gram dried Anchovies
  • 100 milliliter Oil
  • 1 Nos shallots
  • 125 milliliter Water
  • 1 tablespoon coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • As required Salt
  • As required Sugar

Directions: Sambal Nasi Lemak Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Grind garlic,fresh and dried chilli peppers and half of the dried anchovies in a paste

  • STEP 2.Slice the shallots
  • STEP 3.Add oil in a pan and heat it. now add the remaining anchovies and saute them and keep it aside .
  • STEP 4.Separately in a pan add the ground ingredients and saute it. Add sliced shallots , water followed by coconut milk , tarmarind paste and cook it well for 3-4 mins.
  • STEP 5.Turn off the flame and then add fried anchovies. Add salt , sugar and mix thoroughly and then serve.
