  • 1/4 cup Barnyard Millet
  • 1/4 cup Grated Jaggery
  • 1/4 cup Grated Coconut
  • 0.13 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • pinch Pinch Of Salt

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the barnyard millet for 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and grind the millet into a coarse paste.
  • STEP 3.In a mixing bowl, combine the millet paste, grated jaggery, grated coconut, and cardamom powder.
  • STEP 4.Mix well to form a thick batter.
  • STEP 5.Grease a steamer plate with oil and pour the batter into it.
  • STEP 6.Steam for 20-25 minutes or until the pitha is cooked and firm.
  • STEP 7.Allow it to cool down before cutting into pieces.
  • STEP 8.Serve the Sama Poda Pitha as a dessert or snack.

  • Make sure to soak the millet for a few hours to soften it.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less jaggery according to your taste.
