Ingredients for Sama Ki Khichdi Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Sama Rice
  • 1/4 cup Moong Dal
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 inch Ginger, Grated
  • 1 Green Chilies, Slit
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1.50 cup Water
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the sama rice and moong dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, ginger, green chilies, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add the soaked rice, dal, water, salt, and turmeric powder to the pressure cooker.
  • STEP 4.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the rice and dal are cooked.
  • STEP 5.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and fluff the khichdi with a fork.
  • STEP 6.Serve hot with yogurt or a side of your choice.
