  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste

  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder

Directions: White Peas Curry Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak the dried white peas in water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker or large pot, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
  • STEP 3.Once the cumin seeds splutter, add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  • STEP 5.Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the spices are well combined.
  • STEP 6.Drain the soaked white peas and add them to the pot. Mix well to coat the peas with the spice mixture.
  • STEP 7.Add water and pressure cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the peas are tender.
  • STEP 8.Once cooked, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, roti, or bread.

Cooking Tips

  • If you don't have a pressure cooker, you can cook the peas in a regular pot. It may take longer for the peas to become tender.
  • You can adjust the spice levels according to your preference by adding more or less chili powder.
  • For a creamier curry, you can add a splash of coconut milk or cream.
