  • STEP 1.Wash 2 cups of basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add the soaked rice.
  • STEP 3.Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of ghee, and a pinch of saffron strands to the pot.
  • STEP 4.Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook the rice on low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.
  • STEP 5.In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of ghee and fry thinly sliced onions until golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set them aside for garnishing.
  • STEP 6.To the remaining fried onions in the pan, add 1/4 cup of raisins and 1/4 cup of cashews. Fry them until the cashews turn golden brown.
  • STEP 7.Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and transfer it to a serving dish.
