A very healthy popular salad prepared from fruits & Vegetables mixed with soy sauce. Rojak buah is a fruit salad which can be found in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Penang, in Malaysia is popular for this salad. The word ‘rojak’ means mixture in colloquial Malay while ‘buah’ translates into fruits. The special shrimp paste used in this fruit salad is the star ingredient. Mixing the crunchy fruits and vegetables in the sauce gives fresh flavours an interesting savoury twist to it. 'Rojak buah petis' is a tangy fruit and vegetable salad with a tinge of spiciness. It uses a sticky and sweet black fermented shrimp paste as a dressing. It is a popular salad in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Ingredients for Rojak Buah Petis Recipe

  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Nuts
  • 5 gram dried shrimp paste
  • 1 Nos dried chilli peppers
  • 1 cup Malaysian sweet soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoon shrimp paste
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • As required Pineapple cubes
  • As required Apple
  • As required Chayote
  • As required Cucumber

Directions: Rojak Buah Petis Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Dry roast sesame seeds. Fry nuts until fragrant and then keep it aside. Dry roast belacan. Grind dried chillies and roasted belacan. Cut fruits and vegetables into pieces.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Take a pan, add sweet soy sauce, petis udang, water, sugar and cook it at medium flame. Then add ground chili paste and cook until sauce thickens and leave it aside. Take all the fruits and vegetables in a bowl and add sauce and mix well. Lastly granish with nuts and sesame seeds.
