Ravva Kesari is a special dish prepared at the time of Pongal as a Sacrament in the Southern region of India.Kesari recipe is a popular and delicious South Indian sweet made from rava (cream of wheat), sugar, ghee (clarified butter), saffron and dry fruits. This melt in the mouth orange-colored sweet is also known as Rava Kesari. It is made during festivals as well as during poojas or auspicious occasions or any celebrations in South India.

Ingredients for Ravva Kesari Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/2 cup Rava
  • 5 gram Cashew nuts
  • 2.50 gram Raisins
  • 2 cup Water
  • As required Saffron Strands A few
  • 1.50 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder

Directions: Ravva Kesari Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a small bowl add saffron and 2tbsp of water and keep aside.
  • STEP 2.In a pot add 2tbsp of ghee and let it melt, add 1 cup of rava and fry until it changes color.
  • STEP 3.Add cashew nuts and raisins, mix the rava again and add 4 cups of water.
  • STEP 4.Cover the pot with a lid and cook the rava until it reaches a thick consistency.
  • STEP 5.Add the prepared saffron water mix in the pot and 3 cups of sugar, mix sugar and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved in the dish.
  • STEP 6.Add 1 tsp of cardamom powder and mix.
  • STEP 7.Serve hot in a bowl and enjoy.
