  • 1/4 cup Semolina
  • 0.13 cup Yogurt
  • 1/4 Small Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 0.06 cup Grated Carrot
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Paste
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, yogurt, chopped onions, grated carrots, chopped green chilies, ginger paste, and salt.
  • STEP 2.Add water gradually to make a thick batter. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • STEP 3.Heat an appam pan and grease it with oil. Pour a spoonful of batter into each cavity.
  • STEP 4.Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Flip the appams using a spoon and cook the other side until golden brown and crispy.
  • STEP 6.Remove from the pan and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is thick and not too runny to get the perfect texture of appams.
  • You can add finely chopped vegetables of your choice to make the appams more nutritious.
  • If you don't have an appam pan, you can use a regular non-stick pan to make these dumplings.
