Ingredients for Pulli Muttayi Recipe

  • 10 gram Tamarind
  • 15 gram Jaggery
  • 1/20 cup Water
  • 1.20 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.03 teaspoon Chilli Powder
  • 0.03 teaspoon Cumin powder

Preparation Direction

  • STEP 1.Remove the seeds from the tamarind.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Take a pan and add 150gm jaggery and ½ cup water. Heat it. Let the jaggery melt completely. Turn off the flame. Strain the jaggery syrup.
  • STEP 2.Take a jar and add tamarind to it. Grind it. Make sure to grind it in batches.
  • STEP 3.Heat a pan and add strained jaggery syrup. Add 1/4tsp chilli powder, 1/4tsp cumin powder. Mix well.
  • STEP 4.Allow the jaggery solution to boil. Add the grinded tamarind and mix well.
  • STEP 5.Caramelize the solution to get a thick paste. Make sure you stir it continuously in medium flame.
  • STEP 6.Turn off the flame. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it rest for 15mins. Make tiny balls from the mixture.
  • STEP 7.Tangy and sweet puli muttayi is ready.
