Ingredients for Puliyodharia Recipe

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup Urad dal
  • 1/2 cup Chana dal
  • 1 cup Peanuts
  • 5 No.s Dried red chillies
  • As required a few Curry leaves
  • 1 piece Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 cup Tamarind
  • 1 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds

Directions: Puliyodharia Recipe

  • STEP 1.Take a pan, dry roast a spoon of urad dal,  chana dal, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds, roast for some time. Then add some dried red chilies and  saute for 30 seconds. Now add a spoon of asafoetida and roast.
  • STEP 2.Transfer in a grinder and blend well.
  • STEP 3.Take a pan and add 5 tablespoons of gingelly oil, add a spoon of mustard seeds, half a cup of chana dal, half a cup of urad dal, and fry.
  • STEP 4.Add 4-5 of red chillies, curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida, turmeric powder, a cup of peanuts. Fry for a few minutes and add the grinded masala.
  • STEP 5.Add a big sized tamarind juice and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes. Add salt to taste.
  • STEP 6.Take a bowl of cooked rice and add the tamarind sauce in it. Mix well and serve.
