Ingredients for Pulihora Recipe

  • 5 No.s Dry red chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • 2.50 teaspoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 5 gram Peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon Chana dal
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Hing
  • 3 No.s Red chilies
  • 1/2 sprig Curry leaves
  • 3 No.s Green chilies
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind juice
  • As required Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Jaggery
  • 1/2 cup Rice

Directions: Pulihora Recipe

  • STEP 1.Cook the rice and keep aside.
  • STEP 2.In a pan add 10 dry red chilies and coriander seeds, dry roast them and take them in a mixer grinder to prepare a powder. Also known as podi in Andhra Pradesh.
  • STEP 3.In a pot add 5tsp of oil and add 2 tsp mustard seeds and let them splatter.
  • STEP 4.After that add 10gm of peanuts, 2tsp of chana dal, 2 tsp of urad dal, 1 tsp of fenugreek seeds, 1tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of hing, 6 dry red chilies, curry leaves and 6 green chilies , mix everything for 2-3 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Now add tamarind juice, some salt and 10gm of jaggery, let the jaggery melt.
  • STEP 6.After the jaggery is completely melted and is dissolved in the tempering, add the prepared podi and combine everything well. Let it cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • STEP 7.Now in a mixing bowl take the cooked rice and add the prepared tempering in it.
  • STEP 8.Mix until rice is completely covered in the tempering.
  • STEP 9.Now serve in a bowl and enjoy tangy and tasty pulihora.
