A simple poriyal of sauteed snake gourd finished with freshly grated coconut. Pudalangai poriyal is essenially a dry snake gourd sabzi made with made in Kerela style. It is a simple nutritional where cooked pudalnagai is sauteed with spices and finally garnished with coconut. Super easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious.

Ingredients for Pudalangai Poriyal Recipe

  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 sprig Curry leaf
  • 2 No.s Green chillies slit
  • 2 piece Snake gourds halved and cut in thin slices
  • As required Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup Freshly grated coconut

Directions: Pudalangai Poriyal Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a preheated pan add 1 tsp oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds and allow it to crackle.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Then add 2 sprigs of curry leaf, 2 green chillies slit and 2 snake gourds halved and cut in thin slices.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Add salt to taste and saute for a few seconds. Sprinkle a little water and cover the snake gourd and allow it to steam cook. Stir intermittently. Do not over cook. The snake gourd should be firm.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Add ½ tsp turmeric (haldi) powder and saute for a few minutes.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Lastly add ½ cup freshly grated coconut and stir to combine well. Turn off the heat. Serve hot and fresh.
