Sipping a cocktail is always a delight, but this one is with a twist. For all prawn lovers this one is sinful indulgence. Prawn cocktails are a cocktail with a twist. Served in a stylish wine glass, with a hearty mix of defrosted prawns and sweet Marie Rose sauce that is poured over some iceberg lettuce is that perfect start to your meal. This cocktail doesn’t see a definite origin but is believed that it originated around a 19th-century by a miner from California and oyesters were first used in it. This seafood cocktail with some crunchy lettuce is sweet, tangy at the same time. The cocktail sauce is not really but a simple mix ketchup plus mayonnaise or ketchup and horseradish like seen in United States. In this cocktails other seafood like oysters, squid or any other seafood also at times is used in place shrimp.

Ingredients for Prawn Cocktail Recipe

  • 5 tablespoon Mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Cream
  • 1 tablespoon Brandy
  • 5 Tabasco sauce drops
  • 2 tablespoon Horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • As required Lemon
  • 10 piece Prawns
  • 1 slices of onions
  • As required Bay leaves
  • As required Salt
  • As required Parsley
  • As required Water
  • As required Pepper
  • As required Paprika

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Peal the prawn and clean them. Also clean the lettuce leaves and place it in the wine glass.
  • STEP 2.Mix all sauce ingredients to make the sauce. Season it with pepper, lemon juice and salt.
  • STEP 3.Now place the prawns in the glass and add the sauce. Add the remaining prawns and sprinkle some pepper and tobasco.
  • STEP 1.Add onion, lemon, parsley, bay leaves, salt and water.
  • STEP 2.Add the prawns and steam.
  • STEP 3.Take out the prawns and refrigerate.
  • STEP 4.In mixing bowl, add mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco sauce, cream, pepper, a pinch of salt, paprika , lime juice and brandy.
  • STEP 5.Combine well.
  • STEP 6.Add the prawns and coat well.

Storage And Serving Method

  • STEP 1.Serve in a bowl on an ice stand.
